“Toxic” is the name given by the breeders of “Ripper Seeds” to the cross of Ripper Haze X Criminal +. The result is Sativa-leaning hybrid, available only in feminized version, with a short flowering period of about 60-65 days, a good production and an uplifting effect.
We have been gifted a cut of this variety back in 2019 so that we only had the chance to work with ONE phenotype from clone. The C. S. C. who gave us this cut had selected it between others for its compact structure, low stretch and high resin production.
We tested her under different conditions: HPS and CMH lighting systems, Organic or mineral nutrients or onlywater feeding schedules and during different seasons, meaning different range of temperatures, but always indoors. We have also used different training methods like Sea of green and SCROG and more.
Our conclusions are that this variety has great adapting abilities, in every different environment she displayed the same qualities, a good production of flowers and an abundant production of thrichomes, that reached the peak in the coolest temperatures with the “onlywater” feeding schedule.
The structure of the plant is very easily trainable, she lets you tell her how you want her to grow and follows the directions with discipline. She displayed a positive reaction and a fast recovery with the following techniques: Defoliation, pruning, lst, topping, supercropping and mainlining. if you let her grow naturally for more than 30-40 days she would develop a structure with multiples main colas and few lower branches. She’s very resistant to drought stress and pest attacks, with a quick reactions once the problem is fixed, typical of Sativas genetical traits and, probably still related to the same genes, this variety is vulnerable to molds, that can very quickly kill the whole flower and then the plant and to overwaterings, from wich it takes her longer to bounce back rather than from a hard drought period.
Leaves had an intermediate Sativa/Indica shape, enough round, with between 5 and 7 blades but not extremely thin, about 1 to 2 cm.
Flowers are very compact and with a round shape, traits that come from the Indica side of her genes. They are not very smelly but covered in a furry layer of thricomes that makes them literally shine under the light.
Analysis showed THC levels of 24 % on the best batch.
The terpene profile has a lot of earthy and nutty tones, that you hardly smell but that will fill up your mouth once smoked.
The effect of this strain is the best part. It’s literally one of those varieties that will make you happy no matter what, one or two puffs of that dense smoke are enough to make you see brighter colours around you and to make you want to enjoy life at your best. Intensely Sativa, she carries an unexpected boost of energy that suits every kind of daytime activity, social or individual, even sports or training in general. With a curing process of more than 2 months you loose intensity on the nose but the effect changes to a slightly more relaxing version of it without loosing strength.
Definitely a good strain in general, worth it’s price and a try!!
